Athletics

Competing with Character

Athletics at Community Lutheran School are an extension of our commitment to developing the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. Sports provide students with opportunities to build confidence, learn teamwork, and practice discipline and sportsmanship in a supportive, Christ-centered environment.

Participation is encouraged, relationships matter, and character always comes first.

Athletic Opportunities at CLS

Community Lutheran School currently offers:
  • Girls Basketball
  • Boys Basketball
  • Co-Ed Track

Additional athletic opportunities may be offered as interest and participation allow.

Partnership with Wapsie Valley

CLS partners with the Wapsie Valley School District to expand athletic opportunities for our students. Through this partnership, students can participate on teams alongside their classmates - allowing them to enjoy a broader range of sports while remaining rooted in the CLS community.

This collaboration gives students access to competitive experiences while maintaining the close relationships and values that define CLS.

Learning Beyond the Game

Through athletics, students learn lessons that extend far beyond the court or track:
  • Working as part of a team
  • Respecting teammates, coaches, and officials
  • Handling success and disappointment with integrity
  • Representing their school and faith with humility
Athletics at CLS are about growth, encouragement, and developing habits that serve students well in school and in life.

A Place to Participate and Belong

At Community Lutheran School, athletics provide another way for students to connect, compete, and grow together.
Community Lutheran students compete with others from across Eastern Iowa, including Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Waverly, and surrounding communities, through a shared commitment to faith-filled education.
